I've uninstalled, restarted, installed, restarted and I continue to have the same experience.
There is no antivirus program (I see an issue with Intego's VirusBarrier X5 in 10.4.x) and this Mac Pro is running OS X 10.5.6 with all updates and patches applied.
I've tried this with another account I have, but only use for troubleshooting, on this computer with the same results (uninstalling, installing, running, etc.)
I've repaired permissions and checked the drives.
I'm not sure what other information I should supply to troubleshoot this but I'm happy to add any information which might be relevant.
